Cardiologists are physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal conditions of the heart and blood vessels. These conditions may present with angina (chest pain from poor blood supply to the heart), irregular heartbeat and/or heart failure. Cardiologists often perform complex diagnostic and treatment procedures and work together with surgeons on cardiac and vascular (relating to the heart and blood vessels) surgery. Cardiology is a subspecialty of Internal Medicine.
